Bayangkanlah…

Bayangkanlah…
Apa yang terpaksa dilalui rakyat
Disebabkan perbuatan tidak bertanggungjawab …
Disebabkan perlakuan yang kurang beradab..
Bayangkanlah..
Tiada kemelesetan, tiada perbalahan, tiada kemerosotan
Adakah mustahil untuk menjejakkan kaki di puncak dunia atau di luar angkasa, tidak sama sekali
Biarkanlah..
Mereka yang berkerumun untuk melaung penghinaan bangsa yang lain,
Menegakkan sepanduk rasis bukan sepanduk hormat…
Bah kata pepatah, nila setitik rosak susu sebelanga..
Bayangkanlah....
Terima Kasih & Salam ‪#‎1Malaysia‬.

Kids at eateries

Earlier I saw one of my posted on his Facebook saying some complain when kids are given the privilege of using an smartphone or tab at restaurants and at the same time complain if the kids are running around or noisy. Coincidentally I was actually having a real conversation with my good friend on this. He was sharing his experience that he had over the weekend, whereby he took his girl for a nice dinner at a very nice restaurant, ended up with kids running around, noisy, breaking plates and their parents being totally ignorant.

This actually made me to think of how my 4 year old acts when we take him out for dinner or sometimes lunch at any given restaurant. I am sharing with you some tips or rather say what I do to ensure my son doesn’t end up running around and my wife and I being cursed for not raising my son with discipline. Knowing my son, who is extremely hyperactive and always restless, I came out with some ideas which can keep him in one place.

The main reason for kids being naughty, noisy or restless at restaurants is their parents. We can’t compare how kids are raised those days; I’m sure you know it takes lots of guts to be naughty and be always prepared to face the consequences of our actions.  Before I start, keep these 2 mantras in mind.

1. Kids are extremely creative and alert. They can make friend with any other kid, they create imaginary characters, and they recall their favorite hero’s actions or be one. They even can a sword out of chopsticks. Mine makes a drumstick.

2. Remember you are the parent; take control of the situation calmly.

Assuming we are at a western restaurant, how my wife and I do this?

1. Bring some toys which don’t make too much noise, bumps or jumps around, shooters and bubbles. Take along stuffs like mini Lego blocks, PlayDoh, few plastic cooking utensils toys

2. Play along with them, ask them to cook an egg for you, use the place mat on the table for them to create PlayDoh figurines.

3. Walk them to wash their hands and make them to use the soap and towels. Tell them why you need to throw them in rubbish.

Start with the food.

4. If they dislike mash potatoes (like my 4 year old) get some cut fruits, Fries. My son loves vegetables, so we give him the broccoli, grilled tomatoes, blanched carrots etc.

5. Give them separate plate, place small amount of food on their plate. Don’t let them play with the food. Tell them some stories, some even play videos on their smartphone or tab. If that helps then why not.

Food finished and you're not done

6. I will tell him “I’m gonna do a magic you want to see?” He gets excited. I do some silly so-called magic tricks which make think I’m Houdini. I just grab a coin and tell him that I will make it disappear. I clench my fist and swing around, open my palm shows him, and voila the coin vanishes. He gets excited. (of course I dropped it between my lap or on the floor without him knowing)

7. Even then go on YouTube check some videos on how to do simple party tricks for kids, how to make origami out of serviettes

8. Carry him or walk him around the restaurant. Show him the bar, show him how the bar tender mixes the drinks, how does he makes a juice. Make him talk to the waiter or say hello to them. Make him order plain water or some juice himself.

9. Get a piece of paper of pen and make him draw circles; tell him you will make it to types of faces. Show him something like a fork or spook, a sauce bottle and make him draw that.

10. If all fails, then you’re left with no choice. Give them the smartphones or tab. Remember at least you are taking an effort to keep them quiet without disturbing other patrons of the restaurant.

I’m not saying this will work all the time, but it worked for us mostly. Of course they are some bad days and we had to deal with it. Every actions and attitude of a kid starts from home.

If he doesn’t sit on a baby chair, that’s because you didn’t train him to do so. If he plays with his food and mess up the table or sometimes the floor, that’s because you did not tell him it’s wrong to play with his food. Get a baby chair from IKEA; make them sit on it during dinner back home. Believe me they will sit quietly at the restaurant.

Thank you and happy parenting.

Vikrant - The Review

Been almost 3 weeks since the local Tamil movie was released, Vikranth. I just got the chance to watch the other day. Before I could go on writing this review, please be noted that this is merely my opinion and this shall not affect the credibility and shall not be judgmental about the movie.

The story is about Vikrant who is a super-rich businessman who’s girlfriend and family get killed. Police will investigate and found that Vikrant is the killer but later there will be a twist in the end. So I wont categorize this movie as a thriller or revenge-seeking plot. For a Malaysian movie, I should praise the producer and director of this movie for their effort.

The movie is worth the watch however it didn’t capture the crowd in the cinema. I watched at Pavillion KL and there were only 4 of us in the cinema hall. Now that’s really sad to see the lack of support from our locals especially the Indians. Forget about stereotyping that Malaysian Indian entertainment suck, people. Please support our local Indian entertainment. As a director myself, its very heartbreaking for me to see other directors and Indian entertainers does not get the support that they want for this movie. Of course I wont deny the fact that the movie got a lots of flaws and so on but lets just forget all that and watch it. I strongly feel that we should stop comparing local Tamil movies to India. In India its different, each year there is about 150 movies released in India, but here in Malaysia the number is impossible to be reached. However there are directors and artiste who try their utmost level to give us good entertainment. Our local Indians need to change their mindset towards local entertainment and start support local productions. It can be albums, songs, movie or tele-serials. Of course for the good and quality one’s.

Ok let me now get into the fine and flaws of the movie Vikrant.

The plus point of this movie would be, the commercial element used especially the opening scene for the hero. Even though this reminds me of Gajini but they have done quite well, but I feel that they should have tracked that shot. Meaning, use track for that scene where thehero will be walking from the plane. Another plus of the movie would be Sri Kumar who is already a dancer himself, gave an excellent performance in his songs. They used quite number of dancers in their song. What else..hmmm…editing was good where each cuts had a good flow to the next scene. The locations for the song are simply superb, very nicely taken. Above all that another interesting reason to watch this movie will Malaysia Vasudevan acting as Sri Kumar’s father. He also sang a song in the soundtrack.

The not-so-nice part would be the costumes. Throughout the movie there are too many black shirts, suit etc used among the actors. So this doesn’t look nice on screen, in fact there are some scenes where it’s just looked flat. Just like the actor and the background got camouflaged. They perhaps should have used a proper lighting to avoid this. Then there are unnecessary and unprofessional scenes. Example, the villain is a rich businessman but he looked like bouncer. Shabbily dressed and not shaven, so he could not carry himself as a rich businessman. He looked more like a pub owner. Adding to that there will be a scene where both the hero and villain will be showing their money power over a bottle of wine. I seriously feel that this is a bad example to show financial strength.

Of course these minute, unnoticeable scenes have affected me when I watched it. The commercial element that does not suit the movie plot, so that’s a bit disappointing. I hope that if you part of the Vikrant team and reading this, please take this positively. Dialogue delivery timing is abit out so that makes the movie a bit dull because each time they finish a dialogue there is gap without any BGM. I think Ethirkaalam had better BGM. Appearance of Shanmuganathan made me looked forward for comedy in the movie but it was a letdown as the movie goes on.

In Vikranth we have Ram & Anantha in the guest role that eventually will explain who is the actual culprit in this movie and why is that character is taking revenge. The climax of this movie is well taken with so many twist and turns that can take you on a roller coaster ride.

Last but not least my grading for this movie would be 2.5 out of 5, but that doesn’t mean this is a bad movie and worthless to watch. Please watch it in theatres and support them. Give them positive feedback and tell them what you think of the movie. This will help directors like us to improve in future. And for the artiste and to those who is already in the industry, please expand your mind and be innovative when making a movie. Lets bring Malaysian Indian Entertainment to another level.

UPM Natyanjali 2008

Firstly I would like to thank all my dancers from K17 UPM for their co-operation, tolerance and support that they have given me as the choreographer and showed so very high level of respect and gratitude towards the art. Thank you, guys!

Last week 23rd August 2008, (happy birthday, Rujj) UPM had their yearly event. The Natyanjali. It’s actually a dance competition organized every year by UPM’s Putra Kalashetra. Who are they and when they started, I don’t know, but thanks to them for organizing such event.

This is the 3rd year I am choreographing for the students there. My first one was Koli Veda Koli then followed by numerous performances. Each year K17 participates in Natyanjali, they will not win. Yes, they will not win and I wont blame anyone for that.

This year I choreographed 2 groups. One if the senior group and the other were juniors. First we chose Saroja Saman Nikalo for the juniors, and then we changed to Etta katti from 12B, then Sikki Mukki Nerupe from Vettaiyadu Vilayadu. Then finally we decided to dance for Machakari from Sillendru oru Kadhal. This is because the organizers had some issue on the lyrics and other issues as well. Not only us, even the semi classical group had some issues with selecting their song, in fact theirs was much more BIGGER problem compared to ours. You can read all about it
here (by the way, this is another version of how the event went on)

Back to our story. We started practicing everyday with the juniors, spent so much of time. Of course they don’t have prior experience in dancing for such a big crowd or competition. But its okay, there is always a start for everything. I named them the Machakari group which consist of Predith, Eric, Sangeetha, Natasha, Stephanie, Jayanthi, Kokilavani, 2 chinese girls (I’m so sorry that I cant remember your names. I told you rite that I have difficulties in remembering names. Sorry okay)

So we had mixed crowd, in fact when I started choreographing in UPM, it’s my first experience in teaching for a mixed crowd. We had all the races Malay, Chinese, Indians, Sabahan, Sarawakian. Damn, salute you people. Diversity at its excellence!

That’s for the junior groups. Now for the senior groups we decided to dance for Samba Samba from Love Birds. Why this song? Well this year I really wanted to explore their talents since they are bit more experienced dancers already. So I thought of exploring their talents and taking them to another level. Thank god it worked! I knew by taking one song which is new and famous for now would not create that impact, so Hanusha and me started breaking our heads on what song to choose. Back to back, our thoughts just kept pointing to one music director. AR Rahman. So we told ourselves, why not we choose a song that combines AR Rahman and Prabhu Deva (a.k.a Benny Lava on the internet). *Poof* there came that songs.
SAMBA SAMBA from Love Birds J you can click on the link to watch the original video.

Now what? Decided on the song, what will be the theme? What else. Almost most of the dance groups and dancers will definitely done this concept at least once in their lifetime. Even as for me we did this concept for Theepidika once for Astro. Yenna concept, bro? THRILLER lar what else. How can one forget the original Thriller by Michael Jackson. So I started imagining the whole group dancing for Samba Samba for Thriller. Mmmm now that’s interesting. Immediately I called up Sham and told her that I want to meet the senior group dancers. When I told them the song and the concept they said ok, without thinking so much. Thank you guys for having so much trust and faith in me.

Appreciate it!

So we started practicing. Almost everyday from 7.30pm till about 10pm. The last 3 weeks before the competition I started choreographing for Samba Samba. This time I gave different kind of steps and formations. This time the piece had more drama and concentrated on their acting and facial expressions. Finally came the competition day.

Of course the Machakari done a good job for first timers. Then the senior groups went on stage. Then the music started and I just couldn’t believe my eyes. The way they make up and the amount of props. And their performance was mind blowing. Their effort was so obvious on stage. That point of time I knew this year we are the champions. I recorded all their performances, classical, semi classical and also their contemporary. Will upload soon once I have finished editing. As for now maybe I can post some pictures and dance videos during their practice sessions.

Then the time that we were all waiting for came. Announcement of winners.

Natyanjali 2008 – K17 winning list:

Hanusha and me didn’t expect that they will win this much, sorry for underestimating guys. To our surprise this is the first time Astro was there to cover the event. Once the prize giving ceremony completed, Astro came to interview us for the program 360 Degrees that will be aired every Sunday 2pm on Vanavil. My god.. Im so thankful to you! Thank you Lord. Nokia E71

as promised here..

As how the saying goes, first love is always the memorable one’s. My love for Sony Ericsson is still with me. I still feel that SE have one of the best camera and music player.

Anyway coming to todays posting, 2 months ago I was having this thought of changing my phone. Something more hi-tec, something more business classy. Took my XDA Flame (here) asking for pricing, sad to say they offered toooooo low. Way toooo low.

So wanted to try luck, I posted in Lelong.com.my, of course after had some issue due to the systems stupidity I decided not to use lelong… anymore. E-bay is much better. OK that’s another story another day. I was going around asking for good trade in price hoping to get something better. My hit list was – Sony Ericsson's P1, Nokia E90, HTC Touch Diamond, Samsung Omnia and of course iPhone.

I have no idea what struck my mind, suddenly I saw Nokia E71. Even though in photo’s it looked ugly but the specs and description captured my heart. So I went through online forums, discussions, blog and youtube just to find out everything about Nokia E71. End of the day its quite captivating, the functions and the design

One fine day, went to Sunway Pyramid to check out the phone. Fast forward. I paid for my new E71 and of course traded my SE k800i. The price for E71 was RM1800 with 2GB mini SD card and screen protector. Comes with a leather pouch and other accessories as well. It was worth the buy due its functionality. It looks sleek and classy and of course suitable for businessperson. More or less like Blackberry but sleeker version of it. Silver and black, wow what a combination, I would say!

At first it was a bit difficult for me to type messages coz its very small but got used to it. Oh yeah did I mentioned that its QWERTY keyboard.

To read more on its specs go to: http://www.gsmcellphonereview.com/nokia-e71-live-pictures-updates/ or any other phone websites such as GSMArena or Mobille88.
Let you read the review of this phone for now, while I go have fun with my E71!

StopThatShit/Hatred

There is saying goes, everything that is taken in limits always provide long lasting satisfaction. I don’t know who said this but it makes sense. :-D

Lately since the release of Dasavatharam, the DJ’s of THR Raaga have been imitating KamalHassan’s one of the 10 characters, Balram Naidu. In the beginning it was funny, cute etc to hear them imitating but its getting abit annoying and out of hand. Its f****ng irritating to hear Anantha, Uthaya, Maran, Geetha, Ram doing this mimicry performances everyday all the time. For instance when I’m driving to work, they do that when someone calls in or reading SMS.
Why not you people leave that mimicry to the person who can do it. As I have mentioned, its funny and exciting in the beginning but please for heaven sake stop that shit. It’s IRRITATING!! Especially early morning!

The man took so long to practice and change his voice modulation to come up with such a wonderful performance on screen and you people are making mockery out of it, just like how The Villanz did on their remix songs [
here]. Sometimes some people just keep doing things repetitively which eventually leads to irritation from the opposite party. I have always feeling ferked up with Raaga DJ’s because they are freaking irritating. The only show which I would want to listen is Kalakkal Kalai, reason being for traffic report, Ithu Epidi Iruku prank show, Enna Satham Ithe and some jokes by both the DJ’s and another would be on Sunday’s Malaysia Top Ten, in support of our local artist. The last DJ’s that I would want to listen to is Geetha, Maran and Revathy. You can take this article as bitching of Raaga DJ’s but that’s the fact.

Lets take Minnal.Fm for instance; they have improved so much compared to last time. More songs are being aired, local songs and new releases and one of the main point they don’t crack stupid jokes and laugh unnecessarily like Maran. If you are one of the Astro staff or Raaga employee or even worse one of the DJ reading this, I bet you must be cursing by now well guess what Rujjs Fuccadillicz dun give a shit bout dat. Period!

There are so many forums and topic discussing the nonsense that all these DJs are doing everyday on air. I can imagine the DJ asking me this question “F**er, you talk so much. U thinks easy ah being a DJ. You come and do lar our work then you know one. Easy to talk what”
Well this would be my reply to you “That is your job so do it! I will do mine. Prove me wrong and f*** off”

Advertisements. I don’t know if some of us realize that radio stations like Raaga survives on commercials and that is the reason why they will say 40 minutes of non-stop songs, BUT out of a sudden there will 10-15 minutes of commercials. Err, I’m not so sure which part we don’t understand here, 40minutes of music – non stop?? Are you sure? The other day, I was stuck in traffic jam, ignoring the traffic report by Raaga, so I decided why not I time the commercials duration in between songs. The choice is yours to believe, it took about 13-15 minutes for all the commercials to finish completely. Damn, that’s not my cup of tea. Eagerly waiting they will air some songs or some beneficial information will be shared, not so surprised, Ram and Revathy start their nonsense? Talking and talking all the way, before they one miserable song.

In this circle of life there are so many characters that we meet everyday. I have talked about characteristics before [
here] so I don’t want to get deeper on that. Some we just cant tolerate, that can be anyone for the matter of fact. Your dad, mum, wife, friend, boss, supervisor, neighbor, stall owner, staff at counters etc. Just anyone. But how many of us are able to tell them in a nice way that their attitude or reaction towards you it’s a bit annoying and they should stop it. Of course some do that but in a very harsh way. We are lucky if someone who is listening have the positive mentality to accept the feedback from you and please don’t be rude and challenge others. How many of us can actually voice us what we feel like, being honest or straight forward can be dangerous at times. Why, I wont be surprised if its actually threatens the strength of a friendship or relationship. Relationship here means, any type of relationship, love, boss-staff, buyer-seller etc. Few months back we saw citizens gathered to voice out their opinion (Nov 25), and even yesterday I saw in the news, students of UiTM gathered (I’m not sure about them getting the permission to gather in such a big crowd part) protested in ‘peace’ objecting the statement of MB of Selangor Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim that 10% allocation for Non-Muslim students in UiTM. You see everyone have the right to say what he or she feels like.

But the only difference with 25th Nov protest and UiTM protest is; the second one didn’t get the chance to experience the ‘wonderful’ time being shot by water cannon, the ‘sensation’ of tear gas or even the ‘pleasure’ of getting beaten up by FRU personnel’s. Too bad! We are all Malaysian’s aren’t we? Malaysia is the only country, which practices freedom of speech up to their core. To proof that, bloggers and socialist are being arrested instead of the real criminals.

Okay, I don’t want to end up in the headlines so I refrain myself from commenting further on that issue.

So that’s all for now, I wanted to write about the Butterfly Effect and Chaos Theory but it will take sometime, gathering information.

Tan Sri MG Pandithan - Rest In Peace

source: The Star

PETALING JAYA: Indian Progressive Front president Tan Sri M.G. Pandithan, who led a colourful and chequered political career, worked tirelessly for the betterment of the Indian community until the end.

Even when he was hospitalised, Indian Progressive Front (IPF) president Tan Sri M.G. Pandithan was still concerned with the problems of the Indian community.

Tan Sri M.G. Pandithan (April 3, 1940 – April 30, 2008)
He would always ask his visitors, who included party leaders, about the latest developments in the Indian community.

The 68-year-old, who died at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital yesterday after a lengthy battle with cancer, was always cheerful, and had requested the media not to highlight MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu visiting him in hospital in August 2006.

“I don’t want this to be interpreted as being with Samy Vellu. Let the MIC delegates make their own decision,” he said.

Pandithan had always dreamed of bringing the IPF into Barisan Nasional but after realising the Herculean nature of the task, decided to work with MIC for the betterment of the Indian community.

He had risen up the MIC ranks to become party vice-president in 1981, commanding strong grassroots support from the Indian community.

The eighth son of a Kuala Lumpur City Hall manual worker and a washerwoman, Pandithan grew up in the cramped government quarters at San Peng flats, an area notorious for crime.

He studied at SJK (T) San Peng and completed his Higher School Certificate at St Anthony’s Institute before joining Tamil Nesan as a crime reporter.

It took him many years to build a career in the MIC, but after winning a seat in the party’s Central Working Committee his climb was rapid.

After becoming vice-president and being re-elected for a third term in 1986, he won the Tapah parliamentary seat and was later appointed parliamentary secretary to the Trade and Industry Ministry.

However, he was issued a show cause letter on June 2, 1988, for alleging that the party leadership had failed to fight for the rights of the Indian community.

Two days later, he embarked on a “death fast” at the MIC headquarters’ car park, bringing along a coffin and accompanied by 50 supporters, to prove his innocence. He stopped the fast after 28 hours, following an assurance by then deputy president Datuk S. Subramaniam.

He was issued a second show-cause letter for bringing the coffin to the MIC headquarters and expelled from the party in July 1988.

Pandithan then formed the IPF and supported the opposition coalition Gagasan Rakyat in the Oct 21, 1990, general election. He contested and lost the Teluk Intan parliamentary seat.

He unsuccessfully tried to get IPF admitted to Barisan in 1994 and the following year quit the opposition coalition to pledge support to Barisan.

In September 1995, then Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad made Pandithan a senator in recognition of the IPF’s support and contributions to Barisan.

Pandithan and Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu met for the first time in 12 years in June 2000, during the campaign for Barisan candidate S. Sothinathan in the Teluk Kemang by-election.

Later, Samy Vellu publicly admitted that he had opposed IPF’s entry into Barisan.

In October 2003, Pandithan openly called for Samy Vellu to hand over the MIC party leadership to his deputy, Datuk S. Subramaniam, saying that Samy Vellu had stayed too long.

In June 2006, Pandithan was admitted to the intensive care unit following a bout of high fever. Samy Vellu’s visit then resulted in the patching-up of their relationship.

He was admitted to the intensive care unit again early this year, and died of cancer yesterday morning.

I got one finally

I have been looking forward that one particular item since the day one I saw it. It was my one time dream to have something like this with me, everywhere I go, anywhere I move. That one fine day when I saw that green scratch logo started introducing it, I was so excited.

So I told myself that I should get one for me. I used to have that wild imagination, how nice if one I can just sit anywhere and start doing my favourite stuff. Even though it took me sometime to get it, but I feel its worth the wait.

Before I got this, I actually tried another one which I was not so happy with the service plus it couldnt cover the place I stay. Apart from their nice promo nothing made me satisfied but this. My mind keep telling me that the only way that I can blog anytime and anywhere I want is just by getting it.

The small tampon type device, white in color. Yeah Baby Yeahhhh!

Finally I got my own Maxis Broadband! That friggin small cute USB modem which uses 3.5G also known as HSDPA/GPRS/EDGE technology to connect. I know im kinda late in getting the Maxis broadband service.

Frustrated and ferked up with the superbly ridiculous connection and customer service of TMNet Streamyx, I decided to switch to Maxis Broadband, Hey now I can even blog while im shitting, on my bed, while getting a blow, eating , sleeping or even when im driving I can still watch my porn hahaha ok now thats too much !

I am goin to disconnect the Streamyx. Dear Streamyx thank you for your ferked up service all this while but you did at times helped me to download some songs and video's.

Me and ammu went to Berjaya Times Square today to return back U-Mobile's same type of broadband service, which I applied last week. Since my area is not under their coverage I have to return it back within 8 days. As we walking pass this Maxis counter, ammu told that she wanted to get that USB Modem so we went to the booth and enquired on the product. As ammu was signing up I called up dad and told him that im taking up this Maxis Broadband. He just told, if you think we aint gonna have any problem connecting to the internet after this then go ahead.

So we told the girl that we are getting 2 of the modem. We paid. And by the time I came back my account was activated. Few times I totally forgot that it just a modem that I tried using it to move my cursor thinking its my mouse. Coz its that small.

From now on you what Im goin to do! I wish my sister was reading this hahahah..."Mein, I know ur suffering with your net connection with my toshiba hahhaha but im enjoyin my life here. When you come back then you can rent my Maxis Broadband okay,"

I got one finally..Maxis Broadband USB Modem!

Mindsblog Gathering - 15 March 2008

Last week saturday, 15 March 2008 first ever Malaysian Indian Bloggers (MindsBlog) gathering was held. Since we, bloggers are all the kaki kemiskinan we had our gathering at Naga's, Brickfields. Its a five star exclusive wine and dine gathering (heheh) and it was faboulous!

Well I was wondering which will be the familiar face at the gathering when I was parking my car. Once parked, I walked in and saw, Mahen, Amutha and Raaja was sitting at one of the table. In my heart I was like "dammit. 4 ppl oni ha. enalah ithe" But then I walked in and shook hand with Mahendran. Bravo Saravanan !!

Recently I got to know about S.Saravanan. Last week attended Mindsblog gathering and they were talking about S.Saravanan. And I do remember reading about him over one of Mindsblog members blog :)
Saravanan is one of the top scorer in STPM with the results 2A's and 3B's !!

On 9th November 2006 he received ANUGERAH AKADEMIK DAN KO-KURIKULUM PENDIDIKAN KHAS DAERAH KULIM 2006

Saravanan was abandoned by his parents and raised by some good hearts. So what is so special about Saravanan?? Well he is a spastic cerebral palsy. He is from Kedah.

His ambition is to become a Software Engineer. His other achievements are:

So recently my fellow blogger of Bolehland came out with the initiative called to collectively support S.Saravanan. Happy Ponggal - 15 January 2008

Happy ponggal y'all!!

Well before I could write about the International Ponggal Festival, allow me to briefly explain what is ponggal all about. If you have any information that you wanna add on, do drop your comments..

Tamils refer to Pongal as "Tamizhar Thirunal" (meaning "the festival of Tamils"). This festival originated in Tamil Nadu. The saying "Thai Pirandhal Vazhi Pirakkum" meaning "the birth of the month of Thai will pave the way for new opportunities" often is quoted regarding the Pongal festival.

Usually, the festival takes place January 12 — 15 (on the Gregorian calendar). The festival is celebrated four days from the last day of the Tamil month Maargazhi (December — January) to the third day of Thai (January — February). The first day, Bhogi, is celebrated by throwing away and destroying old clothes and materials, by setting them on fire, marking the end of the old Thai and the emergence of the new Thai.

The second day, Pongal, is the main day, falling on the first day of the Tamil month Thai (January 14 — 15). Also known as Sarkarai Pongal or Veetu Pongal, it is celebrated by boiling rice with fresh milk and jaggery in new pots, which are later topped with brown sugar, cashew nuts and raisins early in the morning and allowing it to boil over the vessel. This tradition gives Pongal its name.

Kolam decorations in front of house during Thai PongalThe moment the rice boils over and bubbles out of the vessel, the tradition is to shout of "Ponggalo Ponggal!" and blowing the sangu (a conch), a custom practiced during the festival to announce it was going to be a year blessed with good tidings. For Tamils, it is considered a good sign to watch it boil over, since it means that good luck and prosperity is forthcoming. ThenNew boiled rice is offered to the Nature during sunrise, a gesture which symbolises thanks to the sun and nature for providing prosperity. It is later served to the people present in the house for the ceremony. People also prepare savories and sweets such as vadai, murrukku, payasam and visit each other and exchange greetings.

The third day, Maattu Pongal, is for offering thanks to cattle, as they help farmer in different ways for agriculture. On this day the cattle are decorated with paint, flowers and bells. They are allowed to roam free and fed sweet rice and sugar cane. Some people decorate the horns with gold or other metalic covers. In some places, Jallikattu, or taming the wild bull contest, is the main event of this day and this is mostly seen in the villages.

During the final day, Kaanum Pongal (the word kaanum means "to view") people visit beaches and theme parks. They also chew sugar cane and decorate their houses with kolam. This day is a day to thank relatives and friends for their support in the harvest.[5][3].Although it started as a farmers festival, today it has become a national festival for all Tamils irrespective of their origins, caste or even religion. It is as popular in urban areas as is in rural areas.

Still remember the Deepavali festival, making murukku which was organised by the PuteraMIC at KL Tower. This is another big event to be held on 15th January 2008.

Its the Internation Ponggal Festival@ KL Tower on 15th January 2008.

Venue: Menara KL.
Date: 15 Jan 2008
Time: 10.30am - 12.00pm

For more information you may call PuteraMIC chief, P.Kamalanathan at 012-330 2079 or Thomas at 012-206 8260

Yantra - in my view..

Have you watched Yantra, the movie? Made in Malaysia. It’s a locally produced tamil movie by K.Annan, the director who did Ops Koosa Dappa 1 & 2 and few other TV programs. Watched it days back and my rating for the movie... 2 star of 5.

The story starts in a remote village, two streak of lights hit the village about 100 years ago and it is believed that these two lights carries a very special power in the form of a yantrastones one with a yantra-chakram and snake. Whoever owns this yantra will obtain very special power and able to get anything in this world. (or sumtin like that)

Then there is this couples, Murugesu who is physically disabled and his wife Nandhini who is blind and their daughter Amini. Adding to the cast will be the temple chief, Mayilsamy and Sethu as villagers cum comedian and other extras. Well I personally feel that the screenplay of the movie was weak. Their core subject of this movie is the Yantra and its powers but then in the whole movie they only touch the yantra part about 20% and the rest is about the daily lifes of those villagers focussed on Murugesu and Nandhini. We will talk about the castings later…

Even though it was directed by a prominent director in Malaysia, I strongly feel that its not up to that level. His Koosa Dappa was really good. But this one ..mm nah.. I dont agree. Its a nice story but they could have done better. Nice locations and BGM's but the scenes were abit draggy at the same time closeups was not taken into considerations. Keeping in mind, to show the environment rather than the characterisation and artist expressions. Im not saying there is no closeups at all but very few. They could have done better than this. BUT.. Since its local movie and me as someone who always supports local productions, I watched the movie in Federal where hardly 10 people were in the theatre. I was talking to the guy who sells the ticket.. I asked how is the response so far, he said the story is nice (of course I agree with this) but then the supports from locals are very less.

Yeah lar all busy watching Billa and others, no time to support local movies, yet im so PRouD with the viewers who were at Federal that day, they actually supported local productions and hats off to them. I wished I could hug them and say thanks! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

Ok I would really appreciate if you guys can go and watch this movie in theatres, at least to support their effort in making Tamil movie in Malaysia. Please don’t buy pirated CD’s else you will be punished by God. Yeah iM not kiddin' watch the movie, and you will know why I’m saying this. That’s the excellent opinion by director. Wish all the directors could do the same: D

now lets get into the castings and my point of view as a Director (or future director) eheheheh...

Haridhass (Murugesan) - He is one good actor that we have in Malaysia okay. So you directors please fully utilise his talents. He is really good, Hari I wish one day I can direct you.

Jasmin (Nandhini) - poof. Hello??? Any girls out there, who can act, please come forward!! We are fedup to see the same face that cant act. Lemme ask Jasmin one question, are you blind or retarded in this movie. I don’t understand. Coz I think you got it wrong, girl. You were acting like you were retarded not blind. Sorry ammu I still feel she is an average actress. Nope, I will not cast her.

Kameesha (Amini) - VERY GOOD. Girl, you go! Im really happy to see a child artist who's timing and dialogue delivery was so good. Keep going for more roles.

Egavalli/Gandhinathan (Tata and Pati) - You guys are veteran. What more I can say.Paati, I really want to direct you lah hehehheh

KS Maniam (Temple chief) - Savadi.

Sivapalan (Mani) - Siva, when was the last time you took off your sunglasses off your head. On screen off screen also you need it there is it? Cmon lah bro!

Sam (Paune) - You remind me of Athivasi in Gilli

Saratha (Poongkodi) - Aiyoooo..

Roman (Anthony) - Ok lah. I think Abbas Sasi would have done a better job.

Late Sujatha (Meera) - Ok ok lah.

Haanida (Maya) - Savadiyooooooooooooo

Steven (Sharma) - 50-50. I think Abbas Sasi would have done a better job.

Mohan(Channel Manager) - Sorry sir I never seen you before, but not bad.

Suria (Kanchana) - Mmmmmpppp...No Comments.

Jewaynsan (Kutty) - You are funny man. Keep up the good work.

Gantheeban (Ben G) - He is also another good actor. Very good bro, I watch all your movies but please trim your misai abit. Will look better onscreen.

Vishnu (Vishnu) - Please learn how to deliver your dialogue. Dont blabber. Blurpreblurppreppreblubblerbler..Thats how you talk.

Loga\Sashi: YOU ARE THE BEST!!!! I think without you guys the movie would have been like 'auweche meenu'. I really liked that temple part where Sasi will become tour guides. hahahahhah man, me and ammu cant stop laughing.. hahahahhaah. Logan deserves award for his acting you know. Have you watched Sweet Dreams? If not, GO AND WATCH IT!!

Nicole (Nicole) - Mmmmmm.. Dialogue limitation. Sorry ammu but I really want to cast her in my movie. She really looks nice in front of the camera.

Director K. Annan - Hats off to you Sir. Im really proud that you make so much movies in Malaysia. I really liked your Koosa Dappa. We need directors like you around. Respect!

Anyway what ever I have written above is purely from my mind and what I think of. So if you are one the person involved in this movie production in any way and reading this blog, don’t get angry. Take this as a positive feedback and correct yourself. We all want our Indian Entertainment to grow, I may not be Robbin Williams or Denzel Washington or Sivaji to comment on your acting, but as someone who supports local talents so much, that’s what I feel if I were to work behind the camera..

Keep making more movies and hope that I get into that list as well.. hehehehe
Other recommended movies: Aathma, Manjari, Sweet Dreams, Pensel, Chalangai etc.

Coming soon: Vikranth, Aanava Thandavam, Thiruvila, Arembem.

101 East - Al Jazeera in response with Bersih Rally

Any one of you watched the 101 East show which interviewed Malik Imtiaz Sarwar a leading Malaysian human rights lawyer, Dato’ Seri Nazri and Khairy Jamaluddin on Al Jazeera English on Thursday 10.30pm. Well the questions were well structured and as usual, we had our ministers getting emotional and asking the host to listen.. HahaHaha.. and Malik, I saw that smile on your face. Well the main questions asked in that program was

  • do we need an institution change?
  • Does opposition stand any say in this country?
  • Oppositions are there to voice their concerns, are they allowed to do so?
  • The rally was endorsed by NGO's and professionals. How can it be by oppositions?
  • How far the media can go in Malaysia?

They said that the media is free to say and publish anything. Media freedom you are talking about here??? Well Malik didnt agree to that and so are we.. just like Malik said, the media is controlled by government. Ok as a Malaysian which of course im proud of being one, but freedom of speech and freedom of media are being controlled? Cmon guys, whats happening? Oh yeah in relate to that, another interview about Blogging in Malaysia here

KJ and Nazri said government being chose by us. The people. And when they gather they are being accused for wrongdoings. Well this has been a situation here, which makes people like me confused. Who is making the right statement here. Me or you? The variation of comments and answers quite deceiving though. I choose to restrain my further comments else this can end me up in trouble. Freedom of speech remember?

And there were many more argumentative issues were discuss in that matter. Just in case you didn't watch the video's, there is always a wonderful tool call YoUTUBe.

Al-Jazeera - 101 East Interview with Malik Imtiaz, Khairy Jamaluddin and Nazri Aziz (here)

Unity Band website HACKED!!!

Email sent by Unity Band Friends..Please help to spread the news.

Ayoo Kawan........

Major crisis la!

You know that stupid issue between Malaysia and Indon over the Rasa Sayang song, with the indons claiming it belongs to them.

The Indons decided to teach us Malaysians a lesson! Our hosting company, one of the largest in the country is also the host for tourism ministry's RASA SAYANG.com website. Some Indon hackers on sunday nite brought down 43 sites including us :( hosted by our service provider. They got through to individual domains, backups, etc and have posted a note saying until the malaysians apologise they will keep attacking!

As if we don't have enough headaches :( More fun and games by the looks of it.

Can you PLEASE spread the news that the site has been changed to www.unityband.com.my . Please get people to contact us at ask@ub50.com.my for anything.

Thanks for the support Soldier ! :)

Welcome To Malay(sia)

So what happened on Oct 30th is something which cant be accepted by our community. Well I guess this applies to other races as well. Looks like Malaysian authority turning to be hooligans. So ****** happy to demolish a temple, why cant you give at least 1 day for the to at least move the deities. ****! don't give silly reasons saying the "we have sent letters to the developer, so its his ****** responsibility and we are not concerned. ****!.." This indirectly have provoked racial issues in the country, can you smell the burn? Its burning, mark my words, its burning.

Kampung Rimba Jawa in Padang Jawa, near Shah Alam, 45 years old Hindu temple: Sri Maha Mariaman. Demolished! Ridiculously reasons were given pointing fingers to others. Lets have some courtesy at least, why cant you do it in more manageable manner. You have FRU,Police so you are strong. I can still smell the burn.. So this authorities came and demolished the whole temple. People, civilians or in another words VOTERS.. ********.. VOTERS. Well CoNGraTulaTions governing body, you just lost your votes which includes mine as well. Best of wishes in running the show. Okay coming back to the story.. So they cam they demolished and they beat up the people around there. Women and men were hurt, bloodshed, and I'm still clueless on where the unity and togetherness..

And then came lah our Hero.. Dato Sri. But then buta got chased away by the people there. Buat malulah kawan.. now you know the reality. Launching book does not make the people happy adding to that temple demolished and you come at 5pm. HAhahahahH pADAn MUKA!!

yeS.. Dato Sri Samy came, asking people to calm down and so on. But got chased away, why this happened? Very simple, because the Indian people feel that you have not done enough. Talking aloud and saying that you are strong and making fun of other leaders does not make us happy. Do something which can make us happy. You lost our trust and even that happens inside your party itself which made 2000 members moving to another party.. HAHHAHAHAHAH padaN MuKAAAA !!! ******

Statistics shows that 8 people were hospitalized, many were hurt and 4 lawyers were handcuffed and under custody. HINDRAF. There were even statistics showing that there is plenty of gangsters and 'mandais' in Klang, Port Klang, Kampung Jawa and Pandamaran. Where tha **** you all been?? ********, maybe? Come and show your power here not to innocent people. Lets make assumption that you better not classify yourself as gangsters.. ******. Miow..Miow.. ******! ******* fight them back lar.. they are freakin breaking your temple and you are no where seen??!

******* KAU, ******.. Don't ever come in front of us!! We will EAT YOU ALIVE!!!

Ahh bagus..*******...bagus..ungge ellareko ahlive kaalam vanthe vittethe..

****** lu lah.. You ****** lost your people, lost your votes and the trust we had!

Anyway 50 years of Merdeka, this is the reality. Welcome to Malaysia !! ******** !!
